Lodging

While the University of Washington does not have any visitor housing on campus, there are a number of hotels nearby and private services with locations near campus.

Meals

We will provide coffee/tea and light breakfast in the morning and lunch mid-day. Within a block of our studio, you can get specialty coffees in at least 5 locations. The evening reception includes adult beverages and sparkling water as well as hot appetizers. Last year, some visitors explored the many dining and entertainment options nearby in the Capitol Hill district after the reception.

Local Transportation

We will be in and around the MHCI+D Design Studio and Classroom most of the day, walking through campus in the afternoon to the Link light rail for transit to the evening reception. We will provide a round trip ticket for light rail.

You are welcome to take your own car, but on-street parking is limited in the U District and on Capital Hill, so allow time to park. The Link station is just a few blocks from the reception site.

Further Details

What to Wear

Business casual is fine (we are quite casual in Seattle). Bring layers because the spring weather can be unpredictable and varied from morning to night.

Reception

The evening reception will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Substantial Design Studio, 900 E. Pine, #202. Your spouse/traveling partner is invited to this reception. Contact us if you will have young children with you. Also note, due to its historical character, this location requires the ability to walk up a flight of stairs; there is no elevator.
